Roman Catacombs

Let your inner Indiana Jones shine through and embark on an unforgettable adventure! To briefly summarize it, the catacombs are underground burial zones where Romans of any religion were buried after their passing. Up to this date, there is a total of at least 40 discovered catacombs, some found in very recent years. Up until recently, it was prohibited to visit or enter the catacombs without superior permission and presence. But you know Italians, they get what they want. So, try to forget that hundreds are people may have been buried on the ground you’re walking on, and try this fun activity!

Standard adult ticket price: 8€

Standard child ticket price (7-16 years): 5€

Thursday to Tuesday: 9am – 12pm. Reopen at 2pm – 5pm

Wednesdays are always closed.

The Catacombs of St. Callixtus are located in Rome, at Via Appia Antica, 110m, between the Church of Quo Vadis and the Basilica of St. Sebastian.

Helpful tip: If you’re not one for small, tight spaces or low ceilings, or just have general claustrophobia (search it up), avoid this and try to find an alternative option!
